  • Jerry needs no help playing with his ball.

I built the ball machine because I thought my dog Jerry, might like it and that it would be something fun for me to build. So after two years of on and off work, with many safety features such as IR proximity sensors to protect Jerry and my son from the machine, I finally complete. Far from being a replacement for me, I was always right there with him enjoying his fun. And with all the troubles that I went through to build the ball machine, I still end up throwing more balls than that the machine could count! According to the computer, he played with the machine by himself only 3 times in his life. I recently put this video on YouTube to keep alive my earlier memories of him and (hopefully) provide some “humorous distractions” for anyone that might drop by. Please enjoy the video.

That would be fucked up if the machine broke or turned off

AHHHHHHH so adorable!!! I especially love his happy dance and the hilarious anticipation he has for the balls eventual dispersal. When his ear flips back I ROAR with laughter. This dog looks like the happiest dog in the world. Thank you so much for sharing it

There are many ppl that want a dog, but think that the dog would be to lonlely/bored while they are at work, and they are right. And there are many who have dogs & the poor thing is all alone while they also work. So the dog starts tearing things up to get attention.
I think that this machine can solve this problem FOR THE DOGS! It should be patented and mass produced. Easy to criticize on the net. Ppl should go to the animal shelter & see how many dogs have no one to love them.

Great clip. Amazing how the dog Jerry is happy to interupt the machine cycle to chew the ball a bit then restart it. When the machine cycle does not immediately start Jerry gives the ball a nudge to activate the sensor. This is a dog troubleshooting technology, doesn’t anybody else see how amazing that is?

Iciantha, i agree. My dog would ADORE one of these things – sometimes I get the impression he thinks I AM a biological ball-throwing toy.

Great piece of engineering, funny to think that it might be satisfying for the dog on his own, but awesome to hear you hangout with him while he uses it :-)
